Us

In the end
it’s
up to us.

All the Women in the Moon

This is a prayer for the moon
She’s all the women through the ages
She comes to my room
She is full and she is waiting
Pure love dripping down like honey
Rosebuds blooming in the darkness

All the women in the moon
Are looking down on me
i look up and i can feel their music
Broken but fearless
Brother i am healing
And i will be a delivered soon by
All the women in the moon

i’ve always tried to be tough,
And be a good man like my father
Now i am drunk with love
i’ve laid down my sword and armor
Tonight i’ll sleep within her ribbons
High tides and pomegranate kisses

All the women in the moon
Are looking down on me
i look up and i can feel their music
Broken but fearless
Brother i am healing
And i will be a delivered soon by
All the women in the moon

All the women in the moon
Are looking down on me
i look up and i can see their faces shining
Maiden, mother, wild witch, and lover
i open my whole heart to
All the women in the moon

Being Heard

A woman needs talk
knowing she is listened to
will open the door

To an inner life
that can only be revealed
by her voice alone

and the opening
that she has felt through her words
at last being heard.

The Almond Tree

Underneath the almond tree
Dad sat in the morning sun
His pain was clear, but new to me
I being his youngest son

 I’d seen him loving
Seen him rage
Given me permission
To be the same

 But sadness? Fear?
Not from my dad
No son of his
Would understand

 Underneath the almond tree
I heard my father in his prime
Relate news of his mortality
And through his fear I touched mine

 I saw the tear
I watched it fall
The morning sun
Reflected all

 And I baptized
In love and loss
Between father, son
And holiness.

                          Cry Like a Man

I mourn the way they taught you, through those tender years
They held back their embraces, robbed you of your tears
They thought that’s how you grow a man, they knew not what they did
Forgive them now, you know how, change the way you live

 (Chorus)

Fly like an eagle, run like the wind
Fight like a hero, honour your friends
Dance with your shadow, laugh all you can
Love even when it hurts … and cry… Cry like a man

They left you with a legacy I pray you can unlearn
You have to listen to your heart, put your courage first
And that little man inside of you
Wants to hide when it gets tough
Find the love, and rise above, all the damage that’s been done

(Chorus)

You know you can, you can be the man to rise above your fears
I know you feel it all, never hide another tear
